Kōrero arataki

Introduction

Poipoia Te Hā is a holistic kaupapa Māori mental health and addiction service available to whānau with mild to moderate needs, in partnership with the National Hauora Coalition.

Poipoia Te Hā Kaiārahi engage with tangata whaiora in pairs. Ideally, one male (tane) and one female (wahine), where one leads and the other supports, with roles interchanging according to tangata whaiora preference.

This provides a balance of male and female hā (energy) and enhances engagement and observation to better meet tangata whaiora needs.

Ā mātou mahi

Services provided

We work together with whānau, utilising a holistic approach that prioritises mātauranga Māori. Through a series of wānanga, we help improve the wellbeing of whānau. These wānanga include:

Nga tai ā kupe - Kaumātua Programme

Nga tai ā kupe is a holistic initiative focused on supporting the well-being of our elders by nurturing all aspects of their health, spiritual and cultural identity. It combines wānanga, wairua, tinana, and hinengaro through various activities and practices. The programme promotes movement to maintain vitality, encourages a greater understanding of tikanga from their perspectives, and empowers kaumātua in their roles as leaders and mentors, embracing kaumātuatanga. By valuing their contribution, it strengthens the backbone of our organisation, Marae, Hapu and Iwi, ensuring kaumātua remain active and engaged, preserving and passing down mātauranga for our tamariki.

Roopu Whakatā - Group Therapeutic Wananga

Our roopu whakataa provide space for Whaiora to engage in reflective practice in a safe and peaceful community setting. Whaiora are encouraged to connect with their own inner wisdom and to find whanaungatanga and ranga Wairua as they walk their path alongside others who are also seeking new ways forward. Whaiora can also expect to learn simple practical skills in regulating emotion, understanding the nervous system and bringing mindful presence to everyday experiences.

Whakawhiti Korero

We welcome our whānau to come through and have whakawhiti korero "1:1 korero" with our Kaipoipoia. We come into this space from a cultural lens based and immersed in Te Ao Maori. We are a Culturally Lead and Clinically supported service.

Mahi ā Wairua Tinana

Mahi ā Wairua Tinana Programme is a holistic initiative that draws on ancestral knowledge to heal the mind, body, and spirit. This programme uses the wisdom of our ancestors to restore balance and well-being across all aspects of a person’s life. It recognises the interconnectedness of wairua, tinana, and hinengaro, and offers practices that support healing through each of these dimensions. The programme provides a safe space for individuals to access traditional healing methods, such as rongoā Māori, karakia, and other spiritually enriching practices. It is available through referral only, ensuring that those who access the programme are supported and guided through a tailored approach that respects their individual needs and journeys. This approach helps restore harmony and empowers participants to reconnect with their cultural heritage and ancestral knowledge.
