Kōrero arataki

Introduction

He aha te taonga nui o te Ao, maku e ki atu kia koe.
He tangata,
He tangata,
He tangata.
Mai ngā kaumātua ki ngā mokopuna,
Mai ngā mokopuna ki ngā kaumātua.
Tihei, Mauri ora!

What is the greatest treasure in the world?
I will tell you:
It is people,
It is people,
It is people.
From the elders to the grandchildren,
From the grandchildren to the elders.
Behold, life force!

The Taumarunui Community Kōkiri Trust has developed a comprehensive wraparound service to meet the health and social welfare needs of the community, particularly the needs of Māori. Our mission is to advance the holistic development and wellbeing of whānau, hapū, and iwi.

Ahurei prioritises Mātauranga Māori within their practice and incorporates the teachings of the Mahi a Atua framework from Te Kurahuna, along with frameworks from the iwi of Ngāti Maniapoto. Mataora maintains three principles:

  • Ka ma te ariki, ka ma te tauira – Always being an active learner.
  • Tēnei te pō, Nau mai te ao – Indigenising spaces to enable systemic development.
  • Hongi te wheiwheia – Critical feedback creates development.

At Taumarunui Community Kōkiri Trust, Ahurei works with all our services to ensure our Te Whatu Ahuru framework, which encompasses whānau with a protective cloak from the storms and rains, is at the forefront of all that we do.
